In 2017, most of the national holidays in Maharashtra came on Sundays. But this year in 2018 there are nearly seven public holidays in Maharashtra which came on either Friday or Monday which will give long weekends for the individuals in Maharashtra.
First long weekend in Maharashtra will be for Maha Shivaratri on February 24, which is a public holiday in Maharashtra. Shivaratri is on third Friday of February. So bank employees will not get a long weekend, as it is third Saturday and also, it is not a bank holiday in Maharashtra.
The second long weekend in 2018 for Maharashtra people, will be in March for Holi. Holi is a Government holiday in Maharashtra. The Third long weekend in 2017 for Maharashtra is for May Day. May day is a Government holiday in Maharashtra. May day is celebrated on 1st May every year, and it comes on Monday this year.
